چکیده

By using the tensor-network state algorithm, we study a spin-orbital model with SU(2)$\times$SU(2)$\times$U(1) symmetry on triangular lattice. This was proposed to describe some $d^1$ materials and argued host liquid ground state. In our work trial wavefunction of its is approximated by an infinite projected entangled simplex optimized imaginary-time evolution. Contrary previous conjecture, find that two SU(2) symmetries are broken, resulting in stripe order same magnitude $m=0.085(10)$. value about half spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet. Our result demonstrates although long-sought absent this significantly reduced due enhanced quantum fluctuation. suggests high-symmetry models promising searching for exotic states matter condensed-matter physics.

Spin-orbital short-range order on a honeycomb-based lattice.

Frustrated magnetic materials, in which local conditions for energy minimization are incompatible because of the lattice structure, can remain disordered to the lowest temperatures. Such is the case for Ba(3)CuSb(2)O(9), which is magnetically anisotropic at the atomic scale but curiously isotropic on mesoscopic length and time scales. We find that the frustration of Wannier's Ising model on the...

Spin and Orbital Order in Itinerant Ferromagnets

The long-standing problem of the effect of correlations on the ferromagnetism of transition metals is apparently nearing solution. The ferromagnetism of transition metal compounds, for instance doped manganites, poses a new question: is there some kind of orbital order coexisting with itinerant ferromagnetism? The ideas and techniques introduced by Gutzwiller should be of use again.

Spin, Orbital, and Spin-Orbital Polarons in Transition Metal Oxides

I give a brief overview of a polaron formation in three distinct transition metal oxides: (i) spin polaron when a hole is added to the antiferromagnetic (AF) ordered plane in La2CuO4, (ii) orbital polaron when a hole is added to the alternating orbital (AO) ordered plane in LaMnO3, and (iii) spin-orbital polaron when a hole is added to the AF and AO ordered plane in LaVO3. Comparison of the dis...

Single-spin measurement using spin–orbital entanglement

Single-spin measurement represents a major challenge for spin-based quantum computation. In this paper, we propose a new method for measuring the spin of a single electron confined in a quantum dot (QD). Our strategy is based on entangling (using unitary gates) the spin and orbital degrees of freedom. An ‘orbital qubit’, defined by a second, empty QD, is used as an ancilla and is prepared in a ...
